Davinia Sánchez

Partner

Expert in commercial and insolvency law, Davinia Sánchez de la Cruz is the partner in charge of the Restructuring and Insolvency practice.

She has advised both national and multinational companies in bankruptcy as well as creditors,and has intervened in numerous processes of due diligence and corporate restructurings.

With more than 15 years of experience as a lawyer or member of the insolvency administration, she has guided debtors through the preparation, presentation and monitoring of bankruptcy proceedings, has participated in the preparation of proposals of collective agreements, and in the resolution of incidental processes derived from said proceedings. She has also represented the interests of creditors, advising both financial entities and companies, during insolvency proceedings.

An expert in corporate legal advice to companies in Spain, Germany and the UK, Eduardo Frutos is the partner in charge of the M&A area.
His professional expertise has led him to participate on numerous acquisition operations, mergers, corporate restructurings, financing and refinancing projects, as well as operations of acquisitions of debt portfolios.

During the last years, he has actively participated in the litigation finance market through the evaluation and selection of cases, associating them with specialized funds.

Eduardo Frutos has a law degree and a diploma in international relations from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas ICADE. He has a master’s degree in business law from the Garrigues Study Center and is a regular speaker at academic forums. He has also collaborated in different publications.

Armando Betancor

In his more than 20 years of work experience applied to commercial law, Armando Betancor has advised hundreds of companies in bankruptcy, and has participated in processes of restructuring and insolvency of national and multinational companies. In addition, he is the insolvency administrator of the Petersen companies.

Rodrigo Olivares

Chair of Banking and Finance Law at Queen Mary University of London and international consultant for several multilateral institutions in Washington D.C. and Europe, as well as Central Banks and Sovereign States.

Rodrigo Olivares joins the firm to support the Financial Law area and to provide his high technical expertise advising creditors. He will also offer his international vision to the Restructuring and Insolvency area of the firm.

He is a senior insolvency expert for the World Bank, bank resolution expert for the European Parliament and consultant for several multilateral institutions. Besides, he has acted as expert on sovereign debt for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

With more than 20 years of experience, and working from London and Madrid, he has developed projects in five continents, among which stands out the evaluation of the effectiveness of the insolvency laws of the 38 economies where the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development operates. He currently coordinates and represents the Cuban creditors’ committee and a group of Venezuelan creditors in Europe.

Eduardo de Urbano

PhD in Law and judge on leave of absence, he is responsible for the area of Economic Criminal Law

Eduardo de Urbano is a specialist in economic crime. From 2013 to 2021, Eduardo served as Criminal Magistrate at the Provincial Court of Madrid; previously he was President at the Provincial Court of Las Palmas (1992-1999) and judge of the Technical Cabinet of the Supreme Court (1999-2013).

His high technical expertisein criminal procedures and in ethics and legal safeguards led him to collaborate with international institutions in international legal matters in America (USA, Colombia, El Salvador, Peru, Guatemala) and Europe (Germany, Luxembourg, Holland, Poland, Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia, Romania).

Eduardo is accredited by ANECA as a university lecturer, he is a professor at the UNIR and at the IEB, where he leads a course on Economic Criminal Law. He also directs doctoral theses.

PhD in Law and BA in Political Science and Sociology from the UCM, he is also a member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain, holder of the Cross of San Raimundo de Peñafort, 1st Category.

Alicia Díaz

Alicia Díaz is an expert in insolvency law and corporate legal advice, and is a fundamental part of the Commercial and Restructuring areas of Kepler-Karst, as well as of the management team of antitrust projects.
She has been part of the advisory team of national and multinational companies, and has participated in numerous insolvency proceedings as a member of the insolvency administration.

In recent years, she has advised companies in situations of pre-insolvency or upcoming insolvency in the preparation, presentation and monitoring of bankruptcy proceedings.
